Learn How to Protect Your Intellectual Property Rights!

In September Patsi and I interviewed attorney Jay Hollander about how to protect one's creative assets when doing business online. During the course of the interview we realized there was a whole lot more we need to know about this important subject for entrepreneurs and bloggers. So we did something about it...

On October 30, we are presenting a teleseminar with intellectual property rights attorney Jay Hollander. Every business professional who wants to do business online should know the basic facts about intellectual property on the Internet in order to protect their brands and creative works against legal liability.

While dispelling many common myths regarding intellectual property, Hollander will help professionals understand how to handle these five key issues critical to online businesses:

1.    How should one select and protect a trademark?

2.    How does one identify copyrightable creative works and use copyright law to protect their work?

3.    How do you identify and protect company trade secrets?

4.    How do you secure legal ownership and property rights to websites created for you by others?

5.    How do you reduce the threat of being sued for intellectual property infringement by you or those who contribute to your blog, website or information products?

BlogTalkRadio

Next week we resume Blogging and Beyond and we're moving to BlogTalkRadio.  Today I did a test show to see how the host module works and get some of my questions answered.  Except for the fact that I put myself on mute for the first few minutes, everything went very well. Glad I got that glitch out of the way with a test run!

I'm impressed by the BlogTalkRadio system and it's especially good for those of us who like to be in control of our technology!  The user interface is pretty simple to figure out and use during the show. I also like the page that is set up for our show.  You'll be able to listen to the shows live, or listen to archived show, see what's coming next, and subscribe via iTunes, Bloglines, MyYahoo, Google and AOL. It's all automated.  I didn't have to do a thing to get that set up.

There's a great feature that lets you subscribe to be notified by email 5 minutes before the show starts! You never have to miss a show again. Stay tuned as we ramp up to relaunch on April 19 with Internet Strategist Lena West.

Podcasting Notes

As a follow up to our program last week with Debra Simpson, I posted about a way to get started with podcasting quickly and cheaply.

I still have to do part two; I got sidetracked this weekend with month-end bookkeeping, taxes and fun stuff like that.  I plan to finish up the "how-to" this week.
