Do you have a positive online identity?

What's YOUR Online Identity?

Blogging and Beyond with The Blog Squad, Patsi Krakoff, Psy. D., and Denise Wakeman
With Guest Expert: William Arruda, of Reach Communications and co-author of Career Distinction: Stand Out by Building Your Brand

Little did we know when we invited personal branding guru William Arruda to be our guest on Blogging and Beyond, that he was going to stress the importance for every professional to have a blog in order to manage their personal brand online. We couldn't agree more!

The key to managing your online identity is first knowing what it is. As Arruda said, "You are your Google results."  Go to www.google.com and enter your name in quotes, i.e., "Denise Wakeman" and see what results you get. How many results? Are they relevant? Is it clear who you are, as a professional?

Keep in mind that EVERYONE checks everyone else out on Google.  87% of recruiters "google" job candidates and 35% are rejected based solely on the Google results. What do your prospects find when they "google" you? And, do you have a blog yet? It's the best way to manage your online brand.

You Are What You Publish: Audio

"New Rules of Marketing and PR"
(32:51 min)

Blogging and Beyond with The Blog Squad, Patsi Krakoff, Psy. D., and Denise Wakeman
With Guest Expert: David Meerman Scott, www.WebInkNow.com.

David Meerman Scott is a model to be studied. When Scott wrote his recently published book The New Rules of Marketing & PR, he knew he better follow the "new rules" if he wanted to retain the immense credibility he already has as a marketing thought leader.

In our interview with David on Blogging and Beyond, he shared with listeners how he has personally generated over 2000 sales on Amazon.com in less than two weeks since the book was published. One tactic he is using is to post multiple (20 so far) news releases on PRWeb.com, about the book using different angles and quotes. This is a tactic the Eisenberg brothers used when they published their best-selling marketing book Waiting for Your Cat to Bark.  They posted one release per day for 90 days leading to the launch of the book.

Along with enlisting the support of bloggers with great success, the news release tactic is just one of the "new rules" that Scott is tapping to make his book a best seller.  This is an interview worth paying attention to.
